Barbara Jordan Endeavors is a non-profit organization serving students with disabilities. Students are encouraged to achieve academic excellence and develop leadership skills and are provided with a scholarship during their senior year of high school.
Up until now, the program has been funded privately by Otis and Thelma Scott, but sadly, Otis Scott passed away this spring. I intend to serve this organization by seeking grant money to enable it to continue operating, but in the meantime, the organization is in need of donations in order to continue its work.
There will be a fund-raising reception on December 13, 2008, at their Commons of Grace office located at 9110 Tidwell Street, Houston, TX 77078. The reception will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
If you know of anyone who has funds available for donations this month, please consider Barbara Jordan Endeavors, and please consider attending this reception in Houston. Investing in our children's futures is one of the most profitable investments we could ever hope to make.
